Breaking News 5-13-2013

There are some exciting events taking place real soon with the United States Emergency Chaplains Corps (USECC)!  Here are some of the lates events being announced:

Tuesday May 14th….US Emergency Chaplains Corps (USECC) will have the flag from Arlington National Cemetery in the escort of the traveling Viet Nam Wall Memorial that is coming to Decatur and will be at the Decatur Public Library lower lot.  We will meet the traveling memorial at  Maroa High School at 2:00 PM and escort it to the Library.

Saturday May 18th….USECC will conduct the opening flag ceremony in tribute with the Decatur Public Library that will open the Viet Nam Wall Memorial exhibit.  Ceremony begins at 10:30 AM in the lower lot of the library.  The exhibit will close at 5:00 PM that evening.

Saturday May 25….USECC will assist Camp Butler National Cemetery in placing flags at each grave site in preparation for the Memorial Day weekend.

Sunday May 26th….Memorial Day Service with flag at Maranatha Assembly 555 Imboden, 10:00 AM.

Friday May 31st….Follow the Flag dinner at LSA 6:30 PM.  The flag will be presented by all Vets, First Responders, survivors and families of deployed service personnel present. Tickets or tables available by calling 217-963-2772.

Saturday June 1….This is the BIG one…..Motorcycle rally will escort the flag to the Veterans Memorial at Lincoln’s Tomb in Springfield.  Leaving from the WWII Memorial at the Decatur Civic Center at noon, sign up begins at 10:00 AM.  Don’t miss this opportunity to join the escort, details on the flyer, $15 registration.

There is one more potential event for the weekend of May 31 and June 1 that will be announced once confirmation is complete.  Check back for details.
